"As with all my books, there is a nugget of truth nestled between the lines between the lines of the story. The truth is that walls have been around since the beginning of time, whether they belonged to Adam and Eve, who allowed a barrier between themselves and God, or the people of Jericho, who believed they could keep God out by building a wall around their city.

...I thought walls were more of an Old Testament issue. Walled-in cities; walled-in, stubborn people; temple wall, that kind of thing. But as the story comes to life, God began to make something very clear.

Walls are a part of our lives to this very day.

Oh, we may not think we've put walls between God and us. I certainly didn't think so. But I discovered that without meaning to, I had allowed scheldues and responsibilities and the busyness of life to put distance between the Lord and me. In a sense, I allowed walls to form. I'm guessing that this is true for you as well. Though your intentions may have been good, somewhere along the way you've allowed space to come between you and the Father."

taken from the novel, On Every Side from Karen Kingsbury

Is there a wall that is keeping you from God, the One who loves you?

"Be strong and courageous,

daughter. You will not fight this

battle alone. I will go before

you...the battles belongs to the

Lord....I know the plans I have for

you...and it is My pleasure to do

more than you can ever ask or

imagine...

This story has a moral to it...

Once, two guys and girls went for a Suki Sushi buffet.. When they sat down, the guys immediately reached for a bowl of fried salmon skin, and ordered lots of fried stuff like fried soft shell crabs. The girls wanted to order some sushi so they asked the guys what they want. Guess what one of the guys said?

Guy: I don't eat sushi.
Girl: (puzzled) Why?
Guy: Because the rice will make me full.

(Me: Doesn't he realize that he is in a SUSHI resturant? *rolls eyes*)

In the end, all they ate was plates full of fried oily food and the guys didn't eat anymore because they got so sick of the oil. The girls only ate a few plates of sushi and so they wanted to eat somemore. But the guys were restless and insist on going to one of their other friend's home. With no other choice, the girls decided to stop. When the girls got home, they felt that what they eaten wasn't worth the $20 and they were hungry the moment they reached home.

Moral of the story: Don't ever go to a

sushi buffet with this kind of people!

Feel sorry for the girls? Unfortunately, this happened to me this afternoon.

I'm not saying who the guys but I'll give you a hint: One of the guy's name starts with a 'R' and ends with a 'D' and the other's name starts with a 'C' and ends with a 'B'.

*planning to go for another sushi

buffet three weeks later*

I'm in a kinda bad mood today because there was NO EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION TODAY! Instead it was replaced by Beauty And The Geek and some Martin Yen cooking show. *glares at Mediacorp*

And somehow I just can't download the blogskin that caught my eye. Yes, you must be wondering "Hmm, What is Ch'ng Yi doing finding a new blogskin? Doesn't she realize that nobody is reading her blog anymore?"

Yesterday night I had a very weird dream. I dream that I was supposed to meet my friends for lunch. While I was waiting for them at the appointed time and venue, one by one called me or msged me saying that something cropped up, they had an emergency and therefore they are unable to meet up with me. Although I was upset, there wasn't anything I could do about it, is there? So I decided to not waste this day since I'm already out and walked around.

As I was walking around, I met the friends who was supposed to meet me and there they were with other friends. I knew what was going on because they had a guilty expression on their face. Just as I was going to throw a chair at them, I woke up. Woah, what a great time to wake up *rolls eyes*

The worst things is not that I wanted to throw a chair at them (that was like the best thing) but it feels so real. I can imagine it happening in real life. And that makes me so paronoid once again. And insecure about the friendships I have now. How do I know that my friends will not treat me like what happened in the dream?

Oh Lord, please take away all my insecurities.

Okay, this no-job status with nothing to do has really turned me into a TV freak. Now I'm hooked on this show called "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition".

I know you are thinking to yourself, 'How can Ch'ng Yi watch such a stupid show?". But the "Home Edition" is totally different from the one that shows people getting plastic surgeries and often of them crying in pain. Here I'll just let their website do their introduction.

"In a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take months to achieve, a team of designers, hundred's of workmen and even the neighbors, have just seven days to completely renovate an entire house - every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping for a deserving family nominated by friends and family.

Along with Ty Pennington, the other members of the design team that work their creative magic on the homes are Constance Ramos, Preston Sharp, Michael Maloney, Paul Dimeo, Tracy Hutson, Eduardo Xol, Ed Sanders, Paige Hemmis, Tanya McQueen, and Daniel Kucan.

To get the job done, they're going to have to cooperate with each other — a hard thing to do when they don't always even like each other. Tensions flare as tastes are disputed and the deadline approaches…can they get the job done?"

They literally knocked down the whole house (Sorry that I can't find any pictures of them knocking the house) and then rebuild it in a totally cool and modern way in seven or six days. They then furnish the whole house with new furnitures, each person's room is decorated in the exact way that each person would like. Can you believe that?

But what I love about the show is the hope and love that is awe-inspiring. The families who are featured are usually those who are strucked by tragedies and illneses and they are unable to move on. Their house which is a mess and a pathetic state are a reflection of their personal lives. The design teams come in and give them a brand new house, hoping that the family will start again with a new house and move on.

The episode that stuck me the most is the one where a family of eight kids have just lost their parents. The design team build a house that was not only impressive but is a great hope to the eight kids, hoping that as the eight kids remember their parents, they also will continue to create happy memories in the future.

I also love that the show shows how much love and hope can be created when people come together. Other than the design team, contractors from all over the town also come to help to break the house and then rebuild it. Neighbours also come to support those who are working on the house and also to even donate money when there is not enough. When the family comes back and they sees the house, everybody will be crying along with them (especially Paul). What a great, entertaining and hope-inspiring show!

Knowing My Limits
Sang by: Pong Nan
Written and Composed by: Pong Nan

I don't have an attractive face, I don't know how to shock the audiences.
I don't quite know how to use nice words to fool others.
I've always known that I don't have those qualities
To create a great atmosphere and to deceive listeners
But even the frog has a princess who accepts him.

I don't have a cute appearance, only have a pair of hands.
As I sing and play, even the plain become beautiful.
I don't have the great wish of becoming a superstar.
Even if I do become one, I think it'll be too forced.

I've never thought of trying to please everybody.
I only know to do my very best.
I don't like to use words of grief to garner words of sympathy,
I'll just focus on being a contented person.

I don't have a great eloquence, but there's no need to worry.
The ugly duckling and the swan, both can become great.
I'm not interested in putting on pretenses for anyone,
Putting up all these fancy things to get attention.

I've never thought of trying to please everybody,
I only know to do my very best.
I don't like to use words of grief to garner words of sympathy.
I've never given up my true identity.

Even if only one person truly listens to me,
I'm already fortunate to have his attention.
I know that there are things that I'll never do well enough.
I'll just focus on being a contented person.

I don't care about trying to please the world.
That's why i don't have to try so hard to cover up my imperfections.
I don't need protection and I don't need sympathy.
I've never been afraid of knowing the truth.

Even if the only one listening is this piano
It doesn't matter, because I'm truly happy.
I know that there is no way that I can become perfect.
I'll be satisfied with just being a simple person.

I can't force you to listen to me, or to give me your applause.
But at least, I can use my song to tell everyone what I think.
